Mount Rainier National Park is one of the nation's most magnificent hideaway parks in the United States. Nestled in the Cascade Mountains in Southern Washington, Mount Rainier Park encompasses 235,635 acres of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the area. Sitting at 14,410 feet above sea level, Mount Rainier's majestic peak, which is an actual active volcano, overlooks the park and can be seen over most of Southern Washington.
Opened on March 2, 1800, the park boasts diverse vegetation and animal life. With over 58% of the park being natural forest, a diverse and complex ecosystem is alive and well at Mount Rainier National Park. The park has an impressive amount of facilities, certainly enough to accommodate every type of visitor.
Nature trails all throughout the park are available for hiking and bicycling, and offer picturesque views for ultimate enjoyment. Is the car your preferred mode of transportation? Miles and miles of roads wind throughout the park, offering an enjoyable drive complete with regal views. The lakes are open for boating and fishing, and you can camp at various places throughout the park. There are even museums available for the visitor who wants to know all about the park! There are climbing routes available for those who wish to climb Mount Rainier, and there are several places to eat right in the park.
If you're planning a visit during the winter, there is no shortage of exciting things to do. First, you can schedule a guided snowshoe tour with one of the park Rangers. With a simple $1 donation for the rental of snowshoes, you're off on a winter wonderland experience. For the more adventure-seeking winter visitors, snowboarding and skiing trails are open and ready for adventure. There are even designated places to go sledding in the "Snow Play" area!
Mount Rainier National Park is a fabulous place to visit, but did you know that you can actually plan your destination wedding at Mount Rainier? With literally thousands of options for your perfect wedding backdrop, the park is an excellent choice for that perfect day. A permit is required, but a small $60 fee will secure your beautiful wedding destination.
When planning your trip to Mount Rainier, here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. First, the weather will always determine what kind of trip you take and how enjoyable it will be. If you want to spend lots of time outside, consider the more seasonable weather from July through October.
2. Get the necessary permits for what you want to do. If you do not know exactly what permits you need, you can visit their website or call one of their Park Services phone numbers.
3. Make sure you make lodging arrangements; you will most probably want to spend more than one day, so choose a camping site, or make arrangements outside of the park for your lodging.
Mount Rainier National Park has endless possibilities for a great trip. Its majesty is unparalleled, and its attractions and facilities offer its visitors a memorable experience. Its timeless beauty and fantastic activities will bring you back, time and again.

I've been to many US parks across the country, but this one has always been one of my favorites. The serenity of the mountains is just incredible.

You will question if you have truly lived before you got there. The beauty of that place is beyond compare, and just may bring you to tears.
A place like that really makes you appreciate the wonder of life.
